We all are familiar with the local restaurants in our area. For the most part, you know the best places for a quick meal, a fine dining experience, and even the best place for a casual meal with friends. However, not everyone knows the differences between a supper club and a restaurant.

Today, the supper club experts at BreakBread are going to provide you with all the details you need to know before you book your supper club experience.

Open to the Public vs. Intimate Gathering

Most restaurants operate according to set hours. During these hours of operations, they are open to the general public. While some restaurants require reservations, most allow walk-in guests. Essentially, when you dine at a restaurant, you never know how many people will be dining in the room with you.
Supper clubs provide food enthusiasts with an intimate dining experience away from the crowds. Typically 8-10 seats are available for purchase. These seats can be purchased for your private group experience, or you can purchase a few to experience supper club with new people. For this reason, supper clubs are ideal for anyone looking to steer clear of crowds, distractions, and noisy venues.

Reservations Required

When it comes to reservations, you’ll need them for most restaurants and supper club experiences. Typically, restaurants require reservations for groups of four or more, and very popular restaurants require reservations regardless of the size of your group. In some cases, restaurants keep a few tables on standby for walk-in patrons. Similarly, you will need to make a reservation for your supper club. However, supper club dining experiences are far more intimate, so your reservation ensures you will have a place at the table for yourself and your guests. If you don’t make a reservation ahead of time, you won’t be able to enjoy supper club.

Payment Requirements

You won’t be charged at a restaurant until you’ve ordered your meal and enjoyed your meal. Although you may place a credit card on file to book a table at your favorite restaurant, you typically aren’t charged until the end of your meal. For a supper club, participants are required to pay for their experience when they make their reservation (i.e., before their meal). This fee is to reserve your place(s) at the table and purchase the items your personal chef will need to prepare your meal. Similar to restaurants, your suppe rclub reservations can be canceled for a full refund up to 48 hours before the start of your scheduled experience.

Traditional Venue vs. New Space

Restaurants tend to follow the same mold: a large open dining space with several tables where your meal is ordered and served. As the patron, you may or may not see the chef preparing your meal. Suppe rclubs are hosted in a wide range of fun and exciting locations. From your chef's home to refurbished buildings (such as a museum or a movie theater), each supper club host decides where to host their unique dining experience.

Carefully Curated Menus

When you go to a restaurant, you order from a predetermined menu. For example, you would not go to an Italian restaurant and expect to order French cuisine. With restaurant dining, you are limited to the scope of the restaurant theme (i.e., Caribbean, Thai, Asian fusion, etc.). When you book a culinary dining experience hosted by a BreakBread chef, you can choose between a wide range of dining experiences to meet all of your wildest cravings! With a supper club dining experience, the possibilities are endless.

An Immersive Dining Experience

Restaurants are often crowded, noisy, and disconnected, making them less than ideal to enjoy an immersive experience that fully engages all of your senses without distractions. Supper club guests enjoy a fully immersive dining experience in a safe and friendly environment where they are free to connect and socialize. It’s truly an experience that engages all of your senses. Supper clubs are born out of a desire to cultivate relationships, deepen connections, and create meaningful conversations. Themed supper clubs allow guests to enjoy specific menus paired with correlating music, decor, and ambiance. While you can enjoy a nice meal at a restaurant, supper clubs allow you to enjoy a culinary experience.
